About Golf Solitaire

Golf Solitaire is one of the fastest and most exciting solitaire variants. Unlike traditional Klondike solitaire, Golf Solitaire is all about creating long chains of plays and clearing the tableau as quickly as possible.

The game gets its name from the scoring system - just like golf, lower is better. Your goal is to clear all 35 cards from the tableau with as few cards remaining as possible. A perfect game (clearing everything) is called "going out."

How to Play Golf Solitaire

1

Setup

35 cards are dealt into 7 columns of 5 cards each. One card starts the foundation pile.

2

Play Cards

Click any exposed card (bottom of column) that is one rank higher OR lower than the foundation. Suits don't matter!

3

Draw from Stock

When no cards can be played, draw from the stock pile to get a new foundation card.

4

Win the Game

Clear all 35 cards from the tableau to win. The fewer moves, the better your score!

Tips & Strategies

  • Look for long sequences before making your first move - plan your chain
  • Remember that Aces and Kings wrap around (A-K or K-A)
  • Delay drawing from stock as long as possible - maximize tableau plays
  • Prefer moves that expose multiple playable cards
  • Pay attention to which cards are still in the tableau - avoid dead ends
