How to play Mahjong Solitaire

Clear the whole board by matching pairs of free tiles that show the same picture.

    Find the free tiles

    A tile is free when nothing sits on top of it and its left side or its right side is open. Only free tiles glow, and only they can be tapped.

  2. 2

    Tap a tile to pick it

    Tap or click a free tile and it lights up. Tap the same tile again if you change your mind and want to pick a different one.

  3. 3

    Match two of the same

    Tap a second free tile that shows the same picture and the matching pair disappears. Any flower matches any other flower, and any season matches any other season.

  4. 4

    Use Hint or Shuffle when stuck

    Tap Hint to make a matchable pair glow. If there are no moves left, tap Shuffle to mix the remaining tiles into new spots so you can keep playing.

    Clear the whole board

    Keep matching pairs until every tile is gone. Tap Undo to take back your last match if you make a mistake.

How you win

Remove every tile from the board by matching them in pairs. When the last tile is gone, the board is clear and you win.

Free the tiles that are blocking others first, so you open up more matches.

Try to take tiles you have all four of early, so a pair does not get stranded under the pile.
