Tunnel Digger is a beloved 1982 arcade game created by Namco. You play as Taizo Hori, a character who digs underground tunnels and defeats enemies using either an air pump to inflate them until they pop, or by dropping rocks on their heads.
The game features two enemy types: Pookas (round red creatures with goggles) and Fygars (green dragons that can breathe fire). Both can turn into ghosts temporarily to pass through dirt and chase you.
This browser version captures the core digging and pumping mechanics, ghost mode enemies, and the satisfying feeling of clearing underground levels of monsters.
Use arrow keys to dig through the dirt in any direction. Create paths to reach and corner enemies.
Press Space when facing an enemy in a tunnel to pump them. Four pumps will make them pop!
Dig under rocks to make them fall. Crushing enemies with rocks gives bonus points!
Defeat all enemies to complete the level and advance to harder stages!
Dig, pump, and crush - unlike any other game!
Plan your tunnels and use rocks strategically
