Tips for Barcodes That Scan
Use SVG for Print
Download the SVG when you will print the barcode. As a vector it stays sharp on anything from a price tag to a shipping carton, while a PNG can blur when scaled up.
Keep High Contrast
Dark bars on a light background scan the most reliably. Black on white is the safest choice, and light bars on a dark background often fail to read.
Leave a Quiet Zone
Keep clear white space on the left and right of the barcode. Scanners need this quiet zone, roughly ten times the narrowest bar width, to lock on to the code.
