📖 How to play

How to play Checkers

Move your pieces on the dark squares and jump over the other player's pieces to win.

  1. 1

    You are one colour

You control all the pieces of your colour. Red moves first, then the players take turns.

  2. 2

    Move one square diagonally

Tap one of your pieces, then tap a dark square just ahead of it, corner to corner.

  3. 3

    Jump to capture

If the other player's piece is right next to yours with an empty square just behind it, jump over it. That piece is captured and removed.

  4. 4

    Keep jumping

If you can jump again after you land, you must keep jumping. All the jumps count as one turn.

  5. 5

Reach the far end to become a King

Get a piece all the way to the other side and it turns into a King. A King can move backwards too.

How you win

Capture all of the other player's pieces, or block them so they can't move. Then you win.

If a jump is possible, you have to take it.

Play against the computer, next to a friend, or online.
