Why Use PDF Password Protect?
AES-256 qpdf Encryption
Use modern 256-bit PDF encryption with a real server-side qpdf pipeline instead of a cosmetic lock screen.
Document and Owner Passwords
Set the password recipients need to open the PDF and optionally set a separate permissions password.
Permission Profiles
Start from review, read-only, archive, or open-after-password profiles, then tune each permission.
Print and Copy Control
Allow full printing, low-resolution printing, or no printing, and control text extraction separately.
When Password Protection Helps
Use encryption for access control, then pair it with redaction for content that must be permanently removed
Contracts and Proposals
Share drafts with a password while blocking copy, edit, or high-quality print access.
Financial Packets
Protect statements, tax summaries, and board packets before sending them outside your team.
Legal Review
Allow comments or forms without letting recipients rearrange or edit the underlying document.
Private Records
Require a password before opening sensitive medical, insurance, school, or personal records.
How It Works
Upload PDF
Choose the PDF you want to protect. If it already has a password, unlock it first.
Set Passwords
Enter and confirm a strong document password, plus an optional separate permissions password.
Choose Permissions
Pick a profile or set printing, copying, editing, comments, forms, assembly, accessibility, and metadata rules.
Download Protected PDF
YaliKit encrypts the PDF with qpdf and returns the protected file immediately.
Security Tips
Use a Long Password
Use at least 12 characters with mixed case, numbers, and symbols. A strong password matters more than any permission toggle.
Share the Password Separately
Send the PDF and password through different channels. Do not place the password in the same email as the file.
Redact Before Encrypting
Password protection controls access. It does not remove sensitive text. Use PDF Redact first when content must be permanently removed.
