Why Use Reorder PDF Pages?

Visual Drag & Drop

See thumbnail previews of every page in your PDF. Simply drag pages to new positions - the interface shows exactly where each page will end up. Much easier than typing page numbers.

Quick Actions

Use one-click buttons to reverse the entire document order, reset to original sequence, or shuffle pages randomly. Perfect for common reordering tasks without manual dragging.

Precise Control

For fine adjustments, use the up/down arrow buttons on each page. Move pages one position at a time for exact placement. Hover over any page to reveal the controls.

100% Browser-Based

All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your PDF never leaves your device - nothing is uploaded to any server. When you close the tab, all data is permanently erased.

Common Reordering Scenarios

When you need to change PDF page order

Fix Scanned Documents

Correct pages that were scanned out of order. Drag pages to their proper sequence without rescanning the entire document.

Customize Presentations

Reorganize presentation slides for different audiences. Change the flow without editing the original presentation file.

Prepare for Printing

Arrange pages for specific binding or duplex printing requirements. Get the page sequence right before sending to print.

Reorganize Documents

Move appendices, reorder chapters, or restructure any multi-page document. Create the logical flow you need.

How It Works

1

Upload Your PDF

Drag and drop your PDF file or click to browse. The tool loads your document and generates thumbnail previews of every page for easy visual reference.

2

Rearrange Pages

Drag page thumbnails to new positions, or use the arrow buttons for precise placement. The position badge on each page shows the new order. Use quick actions for reverse, reset, or shuffle.

3

Review Changes

Check the order indicator to confirm your new page sequence. Each thumbnail shows both its new position (colored badge) and original page number (gray badge) so you can track changes.

4

Download Reordered PDF

Click Reorder Pages to process your document. Download your PDF with pages in the new sequence. Original quality is perfectly preserved.

Tips for Page Reordering

Watch the Position Badges

The colored badge shows where each page will be in the final PDF. The gray 'P' badge shows the original page number. Use both to track your changes.

Use Arrow Buttons for Precision

Hover over any page to reveal up/down arrow buttons. These move pages one position at a time - easier than dragging for small adjustments.

Quick Reverse for Upside-Down Scans

If your scanned document is completely backwards, hit the Reverse button once instead of manually dragging every page.

Reset if You Make Mistakes

Made too many changes and lost track? Click Reset to restore the original order and start fresh. Your changes aren't saved until you click Reorder.

Frequently Asked Questions

Simply drag and drop! Click and hold any page thumbnail, then drag it to the new position. A visual indicator shows where the page will be placed. You can also use the up/down arrow buttons that appear when you hover over a page for single-position moves.
Each page thumbnail has two badges: The colored badge in the bottom-left shows the NEW position in the reordered PDF (1, 2, 3...). The gray badge in the bottom-right shows the ORIGINAL page number (P1, P2, P3...). This helps you track which original pages are going where.
Click the 'Reverse' quick action button. This instantly flips the entire document order - page 1 becomes last, page 2 becomes second-to-last, and so on. Perfect for documents scanned in reverse order or when you need to flip the sequence.
Yes! Click the 'Reset' button to restore the original page sequence. This undoes all your rearrangements and returns pages to their initial order. Useful if you want to start fresh or made too many changes.
The Shuffle button randomly rearranges all pages. This is useful for creating randomized quiz versions, shuffling flashcards, or any situation where you need a random page order. Each click produces a different random arrangement.
No, page quality is preserved exactly. Reordering simply changes which order pages appear in the PDF without any modification to the actual content. Text, images, fonts, and all elements remain exactly as they were - only the sequence changes.
Bookmarks pointing to specific pages are preserved and will navigate to wherever those pages ended up after reordering. Internal links between pages continue to work correctly. The tool maintains all PDF structural elements while changing the page order.
No, password-protected PDFs that restrict editing cannot be reordered. You'll need to unlock the PDF first using our Unlock PDF tool (you'll need the password). After unlocking, you can reorder pages and optionally re-protect the result.
No fixed limit. You can reorder PDFs with 5 pages or 500 pages. Since processing happens in your browser, very large PDFs (hundreds of pages) may take longer to generate thumbnails. The actual reordering is fast regardless of page count.
The visual reorder interface doesn't support duplicating pages. For duplication, use our Extract Pages tool to extract pages (including duplicates by selecting multiple times), or use Merge PDF to combine a PDF with itself.
This tool is specifically for reordering, keeping all pages. To remove pages, use our Remove Pages tool. To combine removal and reordering, first remove unwanted pages, then reorder the remaining ones.
Drag the page to the exact position you want. The position badges update in real-time as you drag, showing you the new sequence. For precise single-position moves, use the up/down arrow buttons that appear when hovering over a page.
Completely secure. All processing happens 100% in your web browser using JavaScript (pdf-lib and pdfjs-dist libraries). Your PDF is never uploaded to any server - it stays on your device the entire time. When you close the browser tab, all data including thumbnails and the reordered PDF are erased from memory.
Yes! The interface is touch-optimized. On mobile, tap and hold to drag pages, or use the arrow buttons for precise positioning. All quick actions work with touch. For PDFs with many pages, a larger screen provides a better experience, but the tool functions on smartphones.
